A LOOK AT WHO’S ON THE MOVE ON OAHU
MELVIN NAKAOKA moves up from project architect to vice president at Benjamin Woo Architects. He possesses more than 22 years of experience as project architect, having worked on everything from commercial architecture projects to mixed-use developments, high-rise/mid-rise condominiums, school and hotel renovations. In his new role, he will work with the team on an array of projects around the state from residential homes to institutional facilities.
CELESTE KAHUNAHANA steps in as business process manager at City Mill. She will spearhead company-wide data and application system management, including internal and external communication of system and product information. Kahunahana most recently served as accounting manager at CNSN at LLLP and business process manager at Roberts Hawaii.
CRAIG NAKAMURA advances to vice president of Brokerage Services with Pacific Property Group Inc. where he will oversee commercial leasing, consulting and investment sales. Prior to joining the company, Nakamura was a principal broker of Commercial Properties of Honolulu. He also provided asset management services for Waterhouse Inc.’s commercial real estate portfolio.
DR. KIM-LIEN NGUYEN is the newest addition to Kaiser Permanente’s (KP) optometry department at its Honolulu Medical Office. Nguyen attended New England College of Optometry in Boston where she earned her Doctor of Optometry. Her background encompasses primary eye care practice at several other practices before joining KP including in California and at Hawaii Vision Associates in Pearl City.
DONALD ROSS of AlohaCare is the nonprofit’s newly appointed Medicaid product director. In addition to monitoring and optimizing AlohaCare’s Medicaid program, he also will be responsible to strengthen the company’s relationship with the State of Hawaii’s Med-QUEST Division. Ross holds 21 years in the healthcare industry and held the position of executive manager of the Program Policy and Planning Section at the Oregon Health Authority just prior to joining the organization.
TINA LEGER takes over as assistant vice president of Atlas Insurance Agency Inc.’s (Atlas) Benefits Consulting Department. Leger joined the agency in 2009 and held the position of benefit analyst until being promoted to a senior position last year. She will be responsible for exploring self-insurance opportunities and improving her already extensive book of business. Leger is a graduate of Tufts University in Boston with a bachelor’s degree in international relations.
