SHEILA NEWMAN now serves as senior events manager for Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. Newman has more than 15 years of experience in event management, and previously served as senior event manager for Chicago Marriott O’Hare, as well as director of event services at Chicago’s Warwick Allerton Hotel.

ALLISON GUARD has joined the growing team at ‘Ekahi Health System as nurse case manager. She is in charge of leading the clinical care of patients in her assigned groups. Guard is a registered nurse and brings valuable experience to the company. She previously worked with The Queen’s Medical Center, developing a patient-focused process to improve hospital outcomes.

CHARIS MATSUWAKI has reprised her role as director of education with Hawaii Medical College after recently returning to the institution. She is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University’s 2009 nursing program and became pharmacy technician coordinator at the college in 2010. Matsuwaki brings more than a decade of health care experience and is no stranger to leadership roles, as she has been vice president of the Waikiki 2000 Lions Club for the past two years.

MICHAEL CHONG now works as chief information officer with Arcadia Family of Companies. He will lead the enterprise vision strategy and program with the responsibility to protect information assets and technologies. Earlier this year, Chong made beneficial strides for the company by launching Hawaii’s first web-based portal to be used by residents at Pilina, a senior community. The portal serves as a digital concierge desk at both 15 Craigside and Arcadia senior communities.

ART LUDWIG is the new manager, revenue cycle with Diagnostic Laboratory Services Inc. His role requires him to create policies and procedures, assist with third-party payer contract negotiations and oversee that regulatory and accreditation requirements are being met. Previously, Ludwig was corporate reporting manager at The Queen’s Health Systems and the senior financial analyst at Bentley Pharmaceuticals.

CAROLYN ROBERTS is now director of finance with Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. She will lead the company’s budgeting and finance operations. Roberts harnesses ample finance experience, as she previously was the budget director for Hawaii Pacific University, audit assurance manager and information technology consulting manager with KPMG and assistant controller for Bearing Point.
