A LOOK AT WHO’S ON THE MOVE ON OAHU
KARENA LYONS takes the reins as vice president and executive director of research at the East-West Center. She will participate in the overall strategic and administrative leadership of the center, as well as heading up its research division and cross-departmental Pacific Islands Initiative. Previously, Lyons was New Zealand’s ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau, and consul general to Hawaii.
KAI TAKEKAWA steps in as marketing manager for Zephyr Insurance Co. Inc. where he will develop and execute sales and marketing strategies. Prior to joining Zephyr, Takekawa worked at Aflac Hawaii for nine years. Before finding his way into the insurance industry, he was an accountant at Erwin Cabrinha & Au LLP.
GESHA UMINSKIY joins Carbon Lighthouse Hawaii as data acquisition engineer. He is responsible for collecting and delivering building information used to assess potential efficiency reserves. He started with the company in 2018 and has worked to quantify efficiency reserves in commercial buildings throughout the West Coast and Hawaii. Previously, he served in roles with the U.S. National Parks Service and Geosyntec Consultants Inc.
TAMARA PAPPAS advances to director of ambulatory services planning at Queen’s Health Systems. She will help drive the planning and development of Queen’s ambulatory plan, which will expand outpatient services to meet the growing needs of the community. Her responsibilities include the coordination and implementation of multiple current and future projects in collaboration with operations to achieve the best patient outcomes.
