Refreshing Hawaii with bottled water, coffee
By Kyle Galdeira
HIE Holdings Inc. continues to make a positive impact on the local community by serving kamaaina and visitors alike as the 50th State’s leading manufacturer of bottled Hawaiian purified water and Kona coffee.
“Our customers are mostly retailers, both large and small, and we operate under the brand names of ‘Hawaiian Isles Water,’ ‘Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee’ and ‘Hawaii Coffee Roasters,'” said Glenn Boulware, vice president and chief operating officer of HIE Holdings. “The products can be found statewide, as well as in select areas of the mainland and around the world.”
The business has established locations across the state, including three on Oahu and one apiece on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island — in Hilo and Kona. HIE Holdings continues to improve its operations via the latest technology, including the system utilized at its Hawaiian Isles Water (HIW) Co. plant.
The business offers a wide range of employment opportunities, including positions within its network of warehouses. Sales and service team members work closely with customers to provide the best service possible, and the company prides itself on providing opportunities for advancement within the organization.
“We are still making upgrades on our equipment in our HIW facility, and are excited to be increasing our capacity,” Boulware explained. “These upgrades will allow us to operate more efficiently and help us get more of our water out and into the hands of our loyal customers.”
The facility is certified by the State of Hawaii, Board of Health and Food and Drug Administration and incorporates state-of-theart equipment needed to process, bottle and test the high volume of pure water. At peak capacity, the plant is capable of producing more than 100,000 bottles of water daily.
“We always encourage those who wish to join our team to contact us for openings as we’re continuously looking for ways to improve and get better,” Boulware noted.
HIE Holdings also appeals to current and prospective employees by providing a full range of health insurance options, ample paid time-off and access to a retirement savings plan.
Boulware added, “In the Hawaiian bottled water and Kona coffee industries, we are the market leaders and are able to hold our own against some of the larger mainland-owned companies that are much bigger than our second-generation family business.”
As it aims to meet the needs of the local community and its burgeoning population, HIE Holdings has expanded its operations and plans on doing so down the line as the demand for its quality products increases.
“We’ve recently made expansions at our Hawaiian Isles Water plant due to the recent growth throughout the last few years, and also have added packaging lines in our Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee facility to further develop our newest venture, which has been our entry into the single-serve coffee market,” Boulware explained. “We have been able to pursue this venture thanks in part to establishing our own facility to better supply our customers here in Hawaii and across the mainland United States.”
The team at HIE Holdings Inc. stands behind its lasting commitment to make meaningful contributions to the local community.
The company has partnered with organizations such as Make-A-Wish Foundation (and its Jingle Rock Run), Special Olympics (via full sponsorships for all its events), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Diabetes Association and even has sponsored additional events that fall within the business’ profile of corporate giving.
“Our core mission is to share Hawaii with the world, while also contributing back to the state of Hawaii in a meaningful way,” said Boulware.
