Pointing agents, clients in the right direction
By Don Robbins
Locations offers personalized guidance in all aspects of real estate, from buying to selling and investing, according to Dan Richards, director of marketing for the real estate resource company.
This also includes assistance to military and first-time homeowners, he noted, in addition to offering first-time homeowner seminars, an in-house property management division and strategic affiliations with lenders and title/escrow services. “Our goal is to provide residential real estate services to the people of Hawaii. We serve our clients by having the highest quality agents, technology solutions (via website and mobile app) and market research,” Richards said.
“We serve primarily Hawaii residents, but we do have many mainland and international clients as well,” he added.
Bill Chee founded Locations LLC in 1969 at the age of 24 with two partners. He launched Hawaii’s first database of real estate sales information as a sales tool, and the business grew exponentially. By the late 1970s, Locations had acquired the first computer system in the business and began creating an even larger database.
As Locations executive adviser, Chee remains a driving force behind the real estate-focused organization. In addition to Chee, a team of expert executives help to guide the company forward. Scott Higashi is the second president and CEO of Locations; Brian Stewart is chief financial officer for RESCO Inc. (the parent company of Locations LLC); Michelle Cheung is senior vice president of technology, marketing and research for Locations; and Chad Takesue is senior vice president of sales.
There are a total of 110 employees and 285 agents at Locations. Richards shared that the ideal employee for the company is “a self-starter who is passionate about real estate and making a difference in the community.”
Additionally, he emphasized that someone who is “personable, not afraid to challenge themselves and a team player who shares ideas and supports peers openly,” would be a great fit at the company.
Within Locations, an integrated support team of strategy coaches, contract managers, local market research analysts, escrow specialists, luxury-home networks and agent-to-agent information sharing backs each Locations’ agent.
The company ensures that its employees work together as one team to support each client every step of the way, helping them to make informed decisions and smart real estate choices throughout the process.
According to the Locations web-site, “Since our launch in 1969, earning the trust and respect of the people of Hawaii each year is one of our proudest achievements, and we remain committed to our diverse island community.”
Company officials emphasized that 98 percent of clients would recommend Locations to friends and family. Additionally, 97 percent were “extremely satisfied” with their experience.
Meeting clients’ goals drives every facet of what the company does, stressed Locations’ officials. From innovative technology solutions — such as its mobile app — to how the firm trains its agents, it all comes down to giving clients a competitive edge in the high-demand of the Oahu marketplace and making their transaction as stress-free as possible along the way.
“We have more agents in the Top 100 than any other firm. We’ve helped more Hawaii families in their real estate needs than any other firm, ever,” Richards said. “We’ve led the market in the number of real estate transactions for the past seven years in a row. At Locations, agent productivity continues to go up over a career, whereas most agents flatline at other firms,” he said.
