Diggin’ That Chicken

Local diners will recognize the familiar jingle when thinking of the popular southern-style,
Cajun-infused favorites served up at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen: “Love that chicken from Popeyes.”
And, as employees can attest, the 250 team members at Popeyes Hawaii locations love working for the company, which incorporates the aloha spirit and a commitment to customer service with its iconic Louisiana-inspired home cooking.
Hawaii residents got their initial Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen experience when local entrepreneur Kal Uezu opened the first Hawaii location in 1979. Forty years later, local families still clamor for the bold, Cajun flavors that make Popeyes Hawaii so popular.
“We work hard to serve the best fried chicken and Louisiana favorites quickly and with aloha,” said Sean Uezu, president of Popeyes Hawaii. “Our mission is to be the best place to work and best place to eat in Hawaii.”
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen features six convenient locations on Oahu: Kapahulu, Kalihi, Navy Exchange Food Court, Pearl City, Waipahu and Mililani.
Uezu explained that employees appreciate Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’s commitment to training and promoting from within, and creating career pathways for those looking to grow within the organization.
“As we continue to expand, there are a number of opportunities available,” said Uezu. “We are currently hiring for all positions! From entry level to managerial positions, we are looking for happy and hard-working people to join our winning team. Experience is not necessary, but a willingness to learn and an ability to follow directions and be accountable are.”
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is currently serving up its famous Cajun Fried Turkey. The succulent, savory turkey is so popular this time of year that the special offering sells out annually.
Popeyes Hawaii will also be rolling out the restaurant’s famous Chicken Sandwich today, Nov. 17. “Our culinary team is always coming up with delicious new items,” said Uezu.
With the holidays taking the spotlight this time of year, Popeyes Hawaii remains true to its local roots that span four decades. The business gives back to the local community throughout the year, and for Thanksgiving, it donates turkey dinners for the less fortunate to enjoy.
“The holidays are a time to share with those who need help, and our team happily delivers the turkey dinners every year for Thanksgiving,” explained Uezu. “Our owners are active in the operation, and are hands-on when it comes to the business and caring for employees.”
