Be vigilant in health, fitness efforts for overall productivity

Why is it important to eat healthy and exercise regularly? Because just like your car, what you put in it and on it counts! Eating clean and getting regular exercise will fuel your body to meet the demands of hectic and busy schedules. Everyone knows that exercising is good for your overall health, but it also can have a big impact on your professional life, too.

Q: What are some ways that my health can be improved through clean eating?

A: There are many benefits to eating clean. The foods you eat have a direct impact on your gut health, it will help fight disease, lower pain causing inflammation in the body, clear your skin, improve overall mood, focus better, lose weight, increase energy levels, improve sleep patterns and help break sugar addictions, just to name a few.

Fill at least half of your plate with greens and fresh veggies. Make the best choices possible when eating out. Most restaurants will accommodate special requests to eliminate unhealthy ingredients or will put them on the side.

Q: What are some ways that my health can be improved through regular exercise?

A: The benefits of regular exercise and moving around cannot be dismissed. Look for ways to incorporate exercise into your normal day and to have fun. Benefits include weight loss, preventing disease, improving overall mood, increasing energy and better sleep. Try to exercise for 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times per week, and most importantly, be consistent.

Q: How can eating healthy and exercising help me in my professional life?

A: We’ve talked about the improvements to overall health, but you may also see improvements to your work life as well. Research supports the positive benefits to our professional lives through an increase in brain power, performance, concentration and memory, reduction in stress, an increase in energy with sharper focus, and improvements in overall mood. Paying attention to health and fitness will not only help you to work smarter and harder, but it also will help find that optimal work-and-life balance.
